6. Bananas Are Banned In Japan

In the wake of the Fukishima Daiichi nuclear disaster, governments all over Asia - but particularly Japan and South Korea - began measuring all food with a geiger counter. If a product shows too high a level of radiation it is immediately thrown out. Sounds smart, except a few pesky scientists pointed out that some foods, especially bananas due to their high levels of potassium, are naturally radioactive. Fuelled by media-induced fear, thousands of people who had recently eaten bananas chose to ignore the advice of the scientists and rushed to the nearest hospital to be treated for radiation sickness. Bananas have been struggling to make a come back since.

5. Rap Concerts Are Banned In Las Vegas

Although not technically banned, hip-hop artists in Las Vegas may find themselves slowly starving from lack of work, as in 2005 the discreet but ever-present Vegas police informed casinos that they would be held responsible for any damages or violent crimes committed during rap concerts sponsored by their venues. Angry - but hogtied in the matter - they quietly began contacting rappers to tell them their gigs were cancelled. The ridiculous part? The Vegas police department has a notorious reputation for letting minor things slide in Sin City. The fact they felt the need to outright ban anything is evidence alone at the problems it was causing. Now if they could just work on banning alcohol...
