16 Secrets You Didn't Know About Universal Studios Resort Orlando
15. The Ghostbusters Lives On
When Universal Studios first opened back in June 1990 there was a stage show titled the Ghostbusters Spooktacular.
The show would start with a Universal Employee discussing the Ghostbusters franchise, all the while proclaiming that she doesn't believe in the supernatural. Of course ghostly mayhem ensues with the appearance of Slimer and Gozer. Eventually the Ghostbusters arrive to save the day.
The show lasted 6 years before it was shut down to make way for Twister... Ride It Out. But a small part of it still remains.
The facade of the fire station still stands in the New York section of the park, next to the building that housed the show. The rollercoaster Rip Ride Rocket now runs through the upper window. Currently the lower half is boarded off as construction takes place on next year's new attraction Race Through New York: starring Jimmy Fallon, but make sure you take a good look at it next time.
