17 Shocking Celebrity Deaths

6. Freddie Mercury

Death: 24 November 1991 Another legend who passed away far too early. Similarly to Elvis, imagine if Freddie was still doing his thing today? Life as we know it would most definitely be very different. Freddie, the lead singer of Queen, was one of the most influential and best singer/songwriters of all time. His music was nothing other than genius and it's such a tragedy that he had to hide his personal life in the shadows. Freddie tested positive for AIDs and he died from bronchopneumonia which was brought on by the incurable disease. He kept his disease a secret to protect the ones who were closest to him from media scrutiny. The whole world mourned for him and people held vigils in the street whilst crying and listening to his music. People still pay their respects to him now in London where he has one of the biggest rock and roll shrines dedicated to him outside Garden Lodge in 1 Logan Place. No one will ever have the stage presence that Freddie had. Whenever he walked on to the stage, he completely owned it and his music was so popular because it was honest and made by a genius. Freddie's sexuality would have helped a lot of people today if he hadn't have passed away so early in terms of society understanding diseases like AIDs, and that homosexuality isn't a sin. You shouldn't be ashamed of who you are.
