Until 1991, "KFC" was just the initialism for "Kentucky Fried Chicken" - the original name of the company - before the former was adopted as the title for the business. President of KFC US, Kyle Craig, admitted at the time that the company had decided to change the name in order to distance itself from the unhealthy connotations associated with the word "fried".
