One of the most virulent urban legends about the Universal Hollywood Studios park was that sound stage 28 - known as the Phantom Stage - was haunted by one of its most famous former stars. The area was first used for the Phantom Of The Opera in 1925 - parts of whose set was visible from the inside - which starred the legendary Lon Chaney.

According to popular theory - and the adamant testimony of some studio employees - there were several creepy events on the set that suggest that Chaney returned to the lot after his death in 1930.

Notorious reports suggested the late actor had been "seen" running around the catwalks, holding a chandelier and terrifying the staff. It's really a good job the sound stage was abolished a few years back, so Chaney's ghost can frighten patrons no more.
