12. Thinking People Will Judge Your Musical Taste Somehow
Your musical taste is something that is uniquely subjective and something, in unblemished concept, to be celebrated. Even best friends' musical tastes can vary, even down to certain songs, rather than entire genres. We're protective of our musical tastes, our true anthems and guilty pleasures and songs for all seasons. For the over-thinker, however, it can be extremely difficult not to immediately begin to shield and disguise our musical loves into more conventional or 'cool' tastes, in the off-chance that someone sees or finds out. Is it such a crime to have different musical taste? No, but for an over-thinker, it can mean social catastrophe if someone catches them in the middle of a Katy Perry jam session. The over-thinkers make sure that in any social situation, they have a curated playlist full of socially-acceptable and yet cool songs that tread the line between unusual enough to make you seem edgy and cool, and yet not so bizarre. In reality, people never notice, and if they do, they probably have their own mainstream pop collection hiding somewhere, so they don't care.
11. Becoming Obsessed With Online Security
Let's face it, in a world where celebrities get their private, personal photographs leaked and distributed in the basest kind of violation, and where a dozen different hackers can break into your email account, it's no wonder that normal, non-over-thinking people are worried about their online lives and their online security. Imagine over-thinking people and how strong their struggle must be not to spiral down into a fear-based thinking spiral. In the minds of over-thinkers, hackers can destroy their lives and make them non-existent in the eyes of the world. They change their passwords with alarming regularity and make them longer and more complicated than a George RR Martin book. They buy enough security software to outlast mankind itself and begin to consider that maybe getting rid of their online lives and becoming a nomad in a cabin in the woods isn't such a laughable idea.
