18 Problems Only Over-Thinkers Will Understand

6. Ruining Movies And TV Shows By Over-Thinking Everything

Movies and television shows are never going to be perfect. No matter how much praise is heaped on critically-acclaimed shows and films, there's always going to be some plot holes, some mistakes. People are human and humans make mistakes; therefore their products will never be entirely flawless. However, for over-thinkers, they cannot simply accept this and disengage their brains throughout a piece of entertainment no doubt littered with plot holes and mistakes. They find themselves faced with the horror of analytical over-thinking challenging their desired escapism. It ruins the experience when over-thinkers find themselves taken out of the film, realising just how many mistakes were made, how many factual errors or continuity errors or bloopers or plot holes are filling their film or TV show. Hell, a lot of movies' main premises collapse like a house of cards under the psychological scrutiny of an over-thinker. Largely they manage to rein it in a little, but sometimes it can seriously ruin a good film. Well, and plenty of terrible ones too, but you get our point.

5. Panicking When People Do Not Reply To Your Messages

You can be a frugal texter, or a prolific chatter, but nothing is as gut-punchingly terrifying as the instance of someone not replying to a text, Tweet, or form of social communication within a normal amount of time. You're not the kind of person who needs constant validation and replies all the time, but you know it's kind of rude not to reply to something with a friend, colleague or loved one, in a certain time period. So, when people don't reply, over thinkers can spiral quickly into some varying emotions and states. One of the mot common emotions is irrational panic. Sure, when you've got your eight hours and are feeling good, you can kind of shrug off these long non-responsive times, but in the wrong frame of mind, their lack of response becomes personal. They've suddenly decided they don't like you, they're doing something way more fun than talking with you could ever possibly be, or worst of all, they could be in serious danger. They could be dead, or in hospital, and more than once, over thinkers have colluded their friends' suspicions that they worry too much by ringing to make sure they weren't bisected in a car crash or other such horrors. Still, it means they care. Sort of.
