12. Receiving Unsolicited Advice

Selfie8 Gif People are friendly and nice by nature. Well, a lot of the time they are. The point is, when you're in a pickle, usually people want to go and help you out. However, when it comes to finding work, people can sometimes get a little too invested in trying to single-handedly resurrect your career and get you back into work. Largely this falls into the camp of people who keep forwarding you links to jobs that you have little to no interest in, or to jobs that you simply aren't qualified for. It sucks even telling these people over and over that you're sorry but the job isn't right for you. People then start thinking that you're being lazy and ungrateful, deliberately rejecting all their nice job offers in lieu of sitting at home on Netflix all day long. Which, well, isn't true. Believe us, unemployed people want a job - but going into the wrong kind of job, or one that we're going to hate, or be bad at, is such a bad investment down the road, that it makes better sense for your physical and psychological health to keep looking until the right job comes along. So, thanks, but we're gonna pass.
