LinkedIn. It's the Facebook of the looking-for-work world, and while it's absolutely a great site if you're looking for connections and struggling to find yourself a job, it can be a minefield of unexploded previous contacts, old work colleagues possibly seeking to reconnect, or the hours you may or may not spend looking at how well everyone else seems to be handling their life. It can lead to some painful comparisons between your life and everyone else's - much like Facebook - except that rather than being bombarded by cute babies or posting which Harry Potter character they are, you're left with a list of accomplishments, new jobs, and congratulatory posts about how your ex-colleague has been in an awesome job for the past five years. LinkedIn can absolutely provide a great way to reach out to find new job openings, but just make sure you go in when you're feeling at a masochistic low, otherwise you might emerge feeling a heck of a lot worse for it.
