6. Darwin's Tree Of Life Sketch
Speaking of the father of evolution, the tree of life sketch was found in the notebooks Darwin kept during his voyages on the HMS Beagle in 1830s. So you know how Watson and Crick discovered the structure of DNA all on their own? Well, they didn't. Rosalind Franklin's "Photograph 51" is an X-ray image taken of the structure of DNA and was passed to the more famous pair without her knowledge. Miraculously, they came up with the double-helix model not long after.
Franklin, having died at the age of 37, went unrecognised in her lifetime, but has since started to receive the recognition she deserves.
