3. Aurora Express - Alaska, USA

There was a time before airplanes were a feasible form of commercial travel, when trains were the most luxurious way to take a vacation. You read stories like Murder on the Orient Express and can only imagine how exciting, exotic, and expensive these trips must have been. And although Snowpiercer may have made some people reevaluate how they feel about trains, they still hold a strange, old-fashioned allure. Aurora Express is a unique bed and breakfast located in Fairbanks, Alaska, which rests comfortably on a stretch of track and is comprised of several painstakingly renovated cars from the Alaska Railroad company. It features panoramic views of the Tenana River and the Alaskan Mountain Range, but the real highlight is what lies inside the train cars: a rare glimpse of a way of life that is pretty much extinct in our modern times.
