20 Jaw-Droppingly Weird Laws That Still Exist In America

18. Indiana - Consumption Of Onions Before Public Gatherings Is Prohibited

Illinois Dog Cigar

Law's Origin: ???

Risk of Prosecution: Wrinkled Noses

In the city of Gary, Indiana, it is illegal to eat onions before going to a movie theatre. The law extends to the consumption of garlic as well. That's not a terrible idea when you think of being close to someone with bad breath. Unless it was actually based on an over-riding fear of vampires?

Perhaps city council was just trying to prevent halitosis, but did any of them stop to ask, "How are we ever going to enforce this?" Probably not. Just like the long list of people who passed these other onion laws failed at life's logic test.

It would appear that the States has a serious problem with the humble onion.

Our Rating: This aggression towards onions will not stand, man.
