20 Little Known Facts That Will Make You See Famous Actors Differently
13. Anne Hathaway Wanted To Be A Nun
Over the past decade or so Anne Hathaway has managed to become a household name of Hollywood, appearing in some of the most anticipated and highly regarded films around. She is a trained stage actress (who actually prefers stage roles to film, despite her success), and since childhood consistently participated in plays with a clear interest in acting. Despite this, her childhood career goals were markedly different. Hathaway was raised as a fairly strict Roman Catholic, and was given very strong values from a young age. At age 11 she believed she felt as though she had a calling from God to become a nun, but this changed when she discovered that her older brother was gay when she was 15. She, and the rest of her family, then converted to Episcopalianism, as Hathaway says, Why should I support an organization that has a limited view of my beloved brother? Hathaway now identifies as a non-denominational Christian, and is still a vocal supporter of LGBTQ rights.
