Once the USA entered World War II on the side of the Allies in December 1941, American troops began being posted to far-flung corners of the globe - but they still wanted access to their favourite treats. Thankfully for those who loved a fizzy drink or two, the owner of the Coca-Cola Company at the time, Robert Woodruff, declared that he wanted "to see that every man in uniform gets a bottle of Coca-Cola for five cents, wherever he is and whatever it costs the Company". As a result, Coca-Cola was sent all over the world to any American solider who wished for a beverage - while Fanta was available to the Germans and the Nazis...
