18. JFK Was Medically Disqualified From Military Service... But Used His Father's Connections To Enlist In The Navy
JFK was only able to enlist in the military after using his father's connections - because he had originally failed the physical examinations for both the Navy and the Army's officer schools due to his chronic back problems. Serving during World War II after eventually being given a place in the Navy in October 1941, JFK was a commanding officer of PT-109 and even survived his gunboat's sinking in 1943.
