1. Thatcher's Funeral Cost Approximately £10million ($15million)... And Was Part-Funded By The British Taxpayer
Thatcher's position as arguably the most-controversial Prime Minister in British history ensured that security costs for her funeral procession reached £5million - meaning the entire ceremony in April 2013 totalled £10million ($15million) altogether. Although part of her funeral was funded by her family, the route from Westminster to St Paul's Cathedral (where the ceremony took place) cost £5million to be protected. Full military honours were also given to Thatcher - who died with a worth believed to be above £9.5million, and this led to many Labour MPs calling for the entire cost to by covered privately, although this did not happen.
