7. In 2011 Pepsi Restarted The So-Called "Cola Wars" By Showing A Commercial Where Santa Claus And A Polar Bear Enjoy Their Brand On Holiday... In A Direct Ploy To Mock Coca-Cola's Traditional Adverts

Pepsi Santa Advert Coca-Cola are synonymous with Christmas due to their red-and-white branding and their use of Santa Claus and various other festive characters - but that did not stop Pepsi having a go at trying to steal their thunder. In a clear attempt to restart the so-called "Cola Wars" of the 1970s and 1980s - brought about by the "Pepsi Challenge" - the PepsiCo released an advert in which Santa walks up to the bar of a holiday resort during the summer and, after being offered Coca-Cola, rejects it and asks for Pepsi.

The words "Summer Time is PEPSI TIME" then flash across the screen, trying to capitalise on a time of the year Coca-Cola had not fully made their own. Another advert also featured a polar bear attempting to achieve the same results.
