10. The Company Uses Round Tables So That Solo Coffee Drinkers Do Not Feel As Lonely
One of Starbucks' most-used furniture items are small, round tables that usually have two or three chairs around them. However, this was not always the case - in the early-2000s the company decided to switch to smaller, round tables in most outlets as opposed to square or rectangular ones in order to make solo drinkers feel less lonely. As bizarre as it may seem, round surfaces are far less jarring and do not make people drinking alone feel as lonely as tables with pointed corners do.
