20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About The United States

20. Since 1776, America's Population Has Grown From 2.5 Million To 314 Million

That's 311.5 million people in the last 239 years, or roughly just over 1.3 million people a year. To put that in perspective consider population growth over roughly the same time period in the United Kingdom. In 1801, a census showed there to be about 7.5 million people living in the UK, while a census taken in 2013 shows there to be about 64.1 million. That's only 56.6 million people in two hundred and thirteen years. If America seems like it's growing at an alarmingly fast rate for one country, wait until you visit its Midwest. Most of the states are filled with huge tracts of nothing, where practically no one lives.
