18. Being Pooed On By Peregrine Falcons

Anyone who lives in a town or city runs the risk of being defacated upon by pigeons - it goes with the territory of living in an urban dwelling, like treading in chewing gum or being pestered by strangers for twenty pence bus fare. But Derby's residents have another feathered friend to watch out for if they want to remain clean-headed - Derby Cathedral plays host to its very own peregrine falcon family. Having first nested there in 2006 the birds have been protected ever since, which is more than can be said for most of the heads directly beneath them.
