1. Being Called A Geordie Or A Mackem, When You're Actually A Sandancer
Living in the hinterland between Newcastle and Sunderland, it often assumed that the people of South Shields are some kind of Geordie-Mackem hybrid, but were neither really. Technically, were Sandancers but while the origin of that nickname remains debated the nice version claims its because of our lovely beaches and the not-so-nice version says its a racist term for the Yemeni and Asian emigres who settled here in the early 20th century maybe Geordie or Mackem will suffice (depending on your football team loyalty, of course).
