7. The Penshaw Monument Myth
"So, apparently, the Romans wanted to put a massive statue up on the hill, but they had to get it transported over from Rome. So, while they were waiting for it, someone decided to get started by building the nice monument that would go around it. Problem was, when they finally got it here, it was so big that they couldn't get it through the pillars so they just had to dismantle it all lolololol". Close. Except that it's only about 150 years old and that story is quite possibly the dumbest thing anyone has ever said. Thanks for trying.
