King Adolf Frederick of Sweden was apparently a rubbish monarch but at least the man knew how to eat. Whilst he was criticised for his inability to be a powerful ruler, he was praised for being a good husband, father and master to his servants which is why so many people mourned for him after his death. The King died on February 12th 1771 after he consumed a meal of lobster, caviar, cabbage soup and champagne. He then supposedly had 14 servings of his favourite dessert and it was probably the last plate that pushed him over the edge.
