Robert Williams was the first man in the world to have been killed by a robot. Williams was working in a Ford Motor Company on the production line when he was killed by a robot. He was attempting to manually reach a part that he needed when he was struck on the head by a robot arm and was killed instantly. Since Williams' death in 1979, there have been a number of safety procedures put into place to avoid accidents like this happening again, however, in 2005, there were 77 reported robot accidents in the UK alone.
