The problem with working behind a bar is that you are there to make sure other people have a good night. And here's the thing about other people: they're usually awful, especially when alcohol gets involved. Making sure awful people are enjoying themselves is a rough job description. And apart from the people, there is the mess and the noise and the hideously unsociable hours. Basically, hanging out in a pub every night isn't the thrill ride you imagined it'd be when you were 17.
