20 Things You Won't Believe People Tried To Take On Flights

1. Their Dead Father

Reddit/20th Century FoxReddit/20th Century FoxYeah. So, this happened. And it's not that it came out in this Reddit thread, either: it made national news when it happened a couple of years ago. German nationals Gitta Jarant and Anke Anusic, who were living in Manchester at the time, tried to smuggle 91-year-old Curt Willi Jarant - husband and stepfather, respectively - onto a flight to Berlin, claiming that he was just napping in his wheelchair. In actuality, he was dead as a doornail. The motley trio, with a couple of young children in tow, tried to board an easyJet plane (of course it was an easyJet plane) with their deceased relative at John Lennon airport in Liverpool, knowing full well that Jarant had died 24 hours beforehand. Which is pretty creepy, and also makes you wonder how people didn't notice the smell. They did get caught out, however, when a more eagle-eyed employee of the airport noticed them struggling to get the man out of their shuttle bus, had him sent to the first aid staff, and had it confirmed that he was dead. Anusic tried to play it off: "They would think that for 24 hours we would carry a dead person? This is ridiculous. He was moving, he was breathing. Eight people saw him." Yes, that is ridiculous. You are ridiculous. And possibly crazy.
