9. Wonderland - China
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTzrdMuxS0U In theory, Wonderland in Beijing, China sounds like a great place, like Disney but without people in costumes running around, but for almost twenty years now the site has lay abandoned and desolate. When construction began on Wonderland, the site's intention was to create what would become the largest amusement park in China but no one foresaw what would eventually become of the land. As construction progressed arguments arose over how the money should be distributed around the park and soon construction came to a grinding halt where it remained until 2008. It was at this time that an attempt was made to restart construction of the amusement park but once again, financial issues quickly stopped the process making it the park that was never meant to be. Although the area is off limits for tourists, there have been many stories from travelers who have reportedly explored the creepy, abandoned castle that would have been the main attraction of the theme park. Sadly, the world will never get to see what Wonderland could have been, as the government have decided to turn the land into a giant supermarket. Not very creepy at all.
