20 Tragically Unexpected Truths You Learn In Your Twenties

5. Cooking And Cleaning Are Cool

When you first lived on your own, you likely loved the freedom. You could eat whatever you wanted whenever you wanted, do your laundry when you wanted and clean the home whenever you wanted - which was probably never. In our twenties, hopefully most of us will recognise the value of being able to look in the cupboards and fridge, and rustle something up that is both filling and nutritious. This is endlessly more satisfying than popping a fattening, nastily packaged ready meal into the microwave for four minutes. You also realise in your twenties €” or whenever you've lived alone long enough €” that the home should be kept at least fairly clean and tidy, as it's where you'll be spending quite a lot of your time. It's grim waking up to mouldy dishes and crumb-riddled carpets and this becomes unacceptable in non-student homes of the twenty-something.
