5. Birth Control Pills Work On Gorillas

Exactly (ahem) like sexual health clinics on a Sunday morning in the UK, zoos are full of birth control methods for apes. That's because those running the animal attractions don't want a booming population of primates running around the place causing havoc. Who can really blame them for that?

It may surprise some to learn that gorillas can take the pill. Their hormones can be controlled the same way as human beings, thus proving there's a strong link between body chemistry in both species. Science knew that anyway, and they've been using contraceptive methods for years now.

Clearly, this would be a touchy subject for animal rights activists who worry the gorillas are experimented on in the name of scientific research. Agree or disagree, it does happen across the world and doesn't look like stopping unless proven harmful to the ape.
