These horrible things were problematic full stop. They looked horrible, they often ended up making the wearer "show a bit of leg" because the buttons would open or fall off, and kneeling down whilst wearing them would often end with a button to the knee, which was frankly as bad as standing on a plug or a piece of Lego.
