Broadband was nothing more than a pipe dream for most of the 1990s. For many people, 14.4k modems were the pinnacle of their 90s internet surfing capabilities. 28.8k was also a fairly common connection speed and, if you were lucky, you had a 56.6k modem for "high speed" internet. Except it wasn't. Looking back, the internet was hideously slow and even when you lived in the 90s you were frustrated by it.
