Aragorn presents himself as the perfect man. Not only is he a combination of two things that are polar opposites as he is both a warrior and a gentleman, his love for Arwen is completely selfless. As he is a man and she is an elf, the only way that they could be together is if she gives up her immortality and her life with her family. Aragorn rebukes this in an attempt to save her life and her rightful place with her people, but she is determined to prove to him that true love conquers all.
