Being a tall woman has it's perks. You never have to worry about hemming any clothing, for one. Then there's the advantage of being able to reach things in shops without asking for assistance (yey!), and the fact the average height of a Victoria's Secret model is 5'10'' - leaving you in the same category as some of the world's leggiest females - only, you certainly don't always feel like it. The average height of women in the UK is 5 foot 3 inches, and the average American woman is just one inch taller than that. When the majority of your friend's heights correlate with these common statistics, you're going to stick out a little when you're edging towards six feet. Ask any Amazon-like woman what life in their teen years was like, desperately trying to fit in by slouching and staying well clear of high heels for fear of looking massively unfeminine - and they'll all tell you they were told to "embrace their height" at some point. Either that, or they'll have been told they couldn't get a date because guys were intimidated. Is tall really that weird? Is it totally mannish? The answer is no. Still, the physical complications of being a tall female can be stupendously awkward; and no matter how much we try to "embrace our height", there will still be occasions where you just feel totally... well... massive.
