24 Problems Only People From Newton Aycliffe Will Understand

10. The Boating Lake... With No Boats

The Boating Lake. That's what it's called - and it used to be the closest thing Newton Aycliffe had to a tourist attraction. People could leisurely float around on it with their kids in the summer but, these days, IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY BOATS ON IT. Even now, however, it can still be quite a pleasant place to be. It's not very deep, making it quite safe, and can feature swans, geese and ducks - however, more often than not it's covered in manky algae and weeds (and the council have, on occasions, actively put a stop to volunteers cleaning it).
