If you're a bit of an international jet-setter then you may have heard about App in the Air, if you haven't, don't worry, neither had I. It claims that the app is your 'your personal flying assistant that keeps you up-to-date with your flight', I mean it's not like there aren't any humans employed to do that, right? What the app does is give you real time status, airport tips and in-airport navigation maps, flight profile with all your flights logged. It claims to work offline, it give you gate changes and flight status updates are delivered via SMS which requires no data roaming - it also works with your Apple Watch. There's plenty of travel-related airport apps so it may be hard to see why Apple have picked this one out. My guess is that it has a sizeable social component. You're able to provide feedback on check-in and all other portions of the flight experience, report delays, engage in airport specific chat with other users and share your trips with friends on social networks as well as access to tips and tricks for some of the worlds airports, see it as the Facebook for frequent flyers. Personally there isn't a huge reasoning behind some of its features, surely you can just check the departures board when you're in the airport but obviously that's a bit too much for some people.
