1. There Were No Public Photographs Of Kim Jong Un As An Adult Before He Became Heir Apparent

Kim Jong-un's existence was largely unknown until he was thrust on to the world scene as Kim Jong-il's heir apparent in late 2010. So secretive had his upbringing been, in fact, that no public photographs exist of him as an adult before he was named as the next Supreme Leader.

There is a grainy black-and-white picture of Kim Jong-un as a middling teenager, but no other photos exist until he was presented by his father as the next leader.
