25 Problems Only People From Morpeth Will Understand
18. Being Labelled A 'Posh Farmer'
Strange one, this. We all don't dress like the Duke of Edinburgh here, you know. Our neighbours from closer to the Tyne have come up with some fanciful perception that labels us Morpethians as posh farmers. Where this has come from is anyone's guess. No matter who you meet, whether they be from Wallsend, Dunston, Walker or Killingworth and the like, they'll always reply with the same utterance once you've told them where you are from: "Ar aye, yar frum Morpeth ar yee? Yar a pewsh farma yew, mind!" Yes, Morpeth is famed for its farmers market. It's even bordered by a couple of farms, and does have a few members of its population that sound like they belong in the Monarchy, but categorising us all as that is simply wrong.
