11. Your Money Is Going On Things Like Fish Slices And Spatulas
Perusing the kitchen utensil aisle is suddenly something that one, you look forward to, and two, is necessary to your survival. There is no way you'll be able to cook that haddock without a fish slice. YOU NEED THAT FISH SLICE. Household items are suddenly part of your weekly food shop; washing up clothes, tea towels, mop heads; everything that lived in your mum's cleaning cupboard basically. And it's all too easy to get enthusiastic about it, and snobbish: "Will you just look at the price of this wood polish? It's so cheap! Obviously it's not going to work at all. Let's get that posh one over there, that'll clean up our mantlepiece a treat!" What exactly has happened to you?
