5 Ways Adolf Hitler Gained Political Power

3. Economic Recovery

With the Global Recession biting the perceived lack of leadership from the incumbent Weimar Government even someone less extreme than Hitler who could promise a road to recovery would have stood as good a chance, it just so happened that the Nazi leader took full advantage of the situation. The Hyperinflation in the 1920s saw German currency become near enough worthless, much like the Euro. Adolf Hitler, sensing an opportunity pinned this inflation on "liberal institutions" and started whipping up strong antisemitism against the bankers which he decided would be completely Jewish. As with any confident leader, promising people jobs is a sure fire way of getting them on side - even if those jobs do include giving yourself the military muscle to put shivers through your neighbours. What the people didn't realise was that another reason the employment was getting lower was because certain sections of society were being sent to camps and thus not included on employment figures. While many modern politicians would like to be able to reduce the unemployment rate to almost zero - many people aren't really as keen for war as we used to be - Hitler engineered the situation which in a few years led to World War Two. Power-gaining score: 5/5 Allowing people to have both a job and a currency that is worth more than the paper it is printed on will always get you a good surge in the polls - if you had any rivals to poll against.
