2. The Media
Without Facebook and Twitter the media was a lot easier to gain power over in the 30s and 40s, the outlets were all quite weak willed - no Murdoch's telling the public "Hitler is a smashing old bloke isn't he?" Twitter and Facebook have become tools for the public to start revolting - look at the London Riots - such speed and organisation would not have been possible. Such is the same for Hitler's rise to power - the ability to control what the people see is completely undermined if elements of the population can just torpedo it straight away. Granted it was a different time, but the fact that only radio and newspapers gave information to the masses made them a lot easier to exploit. With brute force taking over the national media it was only a matter of time before Josef Goebbels could spread the message to the German people that the "Big H" is the one to bring the country into a better state. Comparative to today - it's like The Sun effect - anyone who the newspaper says you should vote for generally wins, except obviously the Conservatives won't round up and beat anyone who doesn't for Cameron's Cronies. It really is a case study in propagandas power's to brainwash the masses - people during World War Two would actually sacrificed themselves to protect the Nazi Hierarchy. Which brings us onto...
