6 Forgotten Gems Of The Internet

4. Salad Fingers

There is a truly unimaginable amount of genuinely horrifying content on the internet. Like...seriously...a lot. Just take three random words and Google them, I guarantee that by page three of the search results you'll discover something beyond the realms of the socially acceptable. But in 2004, there came a champion, rising above the multitude of disgusting and shiver-inducing masses, as Fat-Pie.com released David Firth's Salad Fingers toons upon us all. Salad Fingers follows the adventures of the eponymous loner, with his long green fingers, horrendous teeth and all round creepiness. And by adventures, I mean really...really weird stuff. The series is like a documentary on an extremely unsettling mental illness, as you're never quite sure if Salad Fingers is insane or if he's the normal one in his universe, but neither outcome is in any way comforting. It's guaranteed to make your skin crawl, but it's quite honestly brilliant. The humour is bleak at best, yet you cannot help but watch, even if you find yourself disgusted by what's going on in front of you. Salad Fingers had a bit of a cult following halfway through the last decade, and has sort of been replaced by the outright horrifying Slenderman as the internet's go-to creep. But he is most certainly worth a watch, so head over to Fat Pie for a look, but brace yourselves, it's pretty weird.
