Few cartoons have captured the imagination of a global audience quite like the Japanese show Pokemon. Originally a duo of Game Boy video games, Pokemon quickly inspired trading cards, films and an anime series. The success of the franchise eventually led to the creation of a travelling theme park named Pokepark, which toured Japan in 2005 and then the island of Taiwan in 2006. Twelve themed attractions - including Pikachu's Forest, the Pokemon Merry-go-round and Battle Coaster Torn Sky - transported fans right into the world of Pokemon. "Gotta catch them all" may be the famous Pokemon phrase, coined by main character Ash, but unfortunately for the franchise's fans the PokePark has not captured the public's imagination since 2006.
