Smartphone manufacturers are constantly trying to come up with new ways to bring their cameras closer to the level of DSLRs, with varying success (to put it kindly). Recently, one of the ways in which they've tried to do this has been the dual camera, seen in such phones as the HTC One M8 and Huawei Honor 6 Plus. The idea is that the second camera can improve sharpness and brightness in photos, and even add depth information to them - making it great for depth-of-field shots and bokeh-style effects. While dual cameras until now have proven to have some effect on image quality, we're yet to see it implemented in a way that screams to us that this is the future of smartphone camera technology. In June, Xiaru Wen, head of Altek Corp (which manufactures hardware for Apple), said that Altek is working on a revolutionary new dual-camera technology for Apple and the iPhone 7. This wouldn't be too surprising, as Apple is thought to have been working on a dual camera for around three years now. We're likely to see Apple's dual camera in action soon, and if there is one company that can 'do it right', it's Apple. If it works out well for them, then we could see it combined with an even more impressive, and decidedly more futuristic camera technology...
