7 Crazy Projects Apple Are Secretly Working On

2. Eye-Tracking 3D Phone Display

3D phone displays up to now have been a little bit on the 'meh' side. You get grand visions of little holograms popping vertically out of your screen, but the reality is that you end up with a bit of a blurry mess (LG Optimus 3D), or - in the case of the Amazon Fire phone - are forced to look at Amazon products with the slightest of 3D effects. Apple looks like it's aiming to change the game on this front, again probably with the help of its PrimeSense technologies. The so-called 'spatially interactive computing device' will be able to display both 2D and 3D images simultaneously, and will allow two people looking at the screen from different angles to see different images on the screen thanks to its eye-tracking technology. This will work by using an extra layer over the display, which will be able to transmit different parts of the display to each of your eyes individually. Using an image sensor on the front of the phone (probably in the camera), the phone will be able to learn the way your eyes move around the screen, and adapt itself accordingly. Ultimately, you'd be able to view 3D objects on the screen just by moving your eyes around the screen. Yes, it's completely mind-boggling, because it effectively presents us with a way of looking at our phone displays that we've never experienced before. Crazy though it is, it also sounds
