2. Tutankhamun Might Have Been Murdered
The overwhelming evidence that Tut's death was unexpected has led some people to believe that he was murdered by his chief adviser, Ay.
This theory originally came from the now debunked theory that Tut was killed by a blunt weapon strike to the head. When Tutankhamun was x-rayed for the first time in 1968, bone fragments were found floating in his skull. However, further research has shown that these fragments were caused by the embalmers as they prepared Tut's body for mummification and not as a result of a weapon.
Despite this particular method being ruled out, there is still some evidence to support the idea of foul play. First of all, Ay enjoyed a huge rise to power after Tut's death and the femur break shows that Tut may have been involved in an accident instigated by Ay just before his death.
