7 Impossible Things Happening Right Now

1. Impossible Engine That Has Been Accepted For Peer Review

The EM drive currently ticking over in a NASA lab somewhere is possibly proof of science doing the impossible, mainly because most of science still thinks it's impossible, despite the fact that it's actually working.

Every time some new development comes out about this drive, there is a sense that it will be debunked as impossible any day now. To begin with, unconfirmed reports circulated of a fuelless engine that appeared to be breaking the laws of the conservation of momentum, then everybody from NASA down couldn't figure out how it was working but vowed to work on it, and now the damn thing has be accepted for peer review.

Basically, the thing that is so impossible about this engine is that it doesn't require any fuel and uses a magnetron to propel a craft (perhaps even spacecraft) forwards (psst, it's a warp drive). Unfortunately it appears to be ignoring the "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction" bit of physics, which is a big no-no.

Now, being submitted for peer review isn't confirmation that it's actually doing what it says it does, but the impossible drive has come this far, so why not?*

*Why not, apart from the fact that it's breaking the laws of physics, of course.
