7 Mind-Blowing Things We Learned From Joe Rogan's Charles Manson Podcast With Tom O'Neill
6. Who Was Vincent Bugliosi?
If you're a fan of the true crime genre, then you should be no stranger to Vincent Bugliosi's, Helter Skelter. The Edgar award-winning book detailed his heavy involvement in Manson's case, taking the reader through a journey that starts at the initial investigation and goes all the way to the prosecution of everyone involved.
Although Bugliosi would go on to become a highly respected author, co-writing a number of successful books before he died, there are quite a few reasons to believe that he was severely compromised leading up to the case due to his extremely dark personal life.
O'Neill explains how before the trial, Bugliosi was involved in two cases that should've ruined his career. One involved him stalking his former milkmen as he believed that he had slept with his wife and got her pregnant, while the other involved him beating his pregnant mistress to the point of miscarriage. After those cases were settled, he was then given biggest case in US history.
Was he chosen because he was unbelievably good at his job and they wanted to make sure Manson and his group got the book thrown at them or was it because they had leverage on him following his recent past and needed someone who would do what he was told?
