7 Psychological 'Tricks' That Are Total Bullsh*t
2. Mozart Makes You Smarter
The music of Mozart is certainly beautiful, pleasant and relaxing, but exposing yourself or even your unborn child to those twiddly strings is, unfortunately, not going to bolster the old IQ.
This whole thing is based on a small bit of research that was conducted in the 90s, and snowballed from there.
The original 1993 study looked into the causal relationship between listening to music and a marginally improved performance in spatial-reasoning tasks. The study was only conducted on 36 people, none of which were in the womb, and only showed a small improvement in spatial reasoning for a liimited period of time.
Now, the scientifically minded amongst you will have noticed that this is not exactly the same thing as "playing Mozart to your unborn child will make them a legit genius". Not quite.
