8 Animals That Might Go Extinct In 2016

The Earth has lost 50% of its wildlife in the last 40 years.

Humans. What a bunch of b**tards. It has been estimated that more that half of the species on Earth have gone extinct in just the last 40 years. Half. Sadly, most, if not all, of these extinctions, are as a result of human activity in one way or another. Looks like we haven't yet learnt our lesson either, as there are plenty more magnificent species, teetering on the brink of oblivion. Some of these are so precarious, that we could have to say goodbye before the year is out. These aren't just super-obscure species of beetles or plankton either (although they are equally important), these are large and often iconic vertebrates that we are pushing to the edge of existence. It's frightening to think that the next generation might learn about gorillas in the same way that we learnt about the dodo, but if mankind gets its way then that is exactly what is going to happen.
