8 Comedians Who Received Serious Death Threats For Their Jokes

8. Anthony Jeselnik

When your career is predicated on jokes about rape and cancer and all of the other things you're not supposed to joke about, it's pretty easy to piss people off. But Anthony Jeselnik is cool with that, as long as you direct all of your hatred toward him and him alone. A couple of years ago, a man from New Zealand was eaten by a shark. Jeselnik, who believes sharks are better than humans, made sure that for the next episode of his late night show, The Jeselnik Offensive, there was a sketch about it. He had a "shark party," which mostly involved him making fun of the very recently deceased New Zealander. When people from New Zealand caught wind of it, they got a bit upset about it. In fact, they demanded not only a public apology, but a personal apology to the deceased man's family. But Jeselnik is not one to back down from his jokes. He told the executives at Comedy Central (which airs his program) to go f*ck themselves when they told him if he didn't apologize, he would be fired, along with the entire cast and crew of his show. Though he's said he regrets it, Jeselnik made the apology on behalf of the crew members who needed job security.
